The ship killer missiles to Syria has been supplied to Russia in defiance over the growing western demands. There has been a raising demands for the arms embargo against the regime of the president Bashar al-Assad. Russia has produced and supplied the Bastion anti ship missile system which has been equipped with Yakhont supersonic missiles. Theses Yakhaont supersonic Missiles has been supplied to Syria stated the senator Vyacheslav Popov former northern fleet commander. The contract which was under the 2007 Russia had to supply about two Bastion complexes with about 72 Yakhont missiles.

The Yakhont missile is fire and forget type having a range of about 300 km range and is a version of Indio -Russian Brahmos missile. The difference between Indo-Russian Brahomos and Yakhont is that the Brahmos uses the Indian computer alonfg with the navigation system. The Yakhont version will be enhancing the defense potential of Syria stated Popov to the interfax news agency on Friday. According to other reports the Russian missile will be capable of protecting the coast of Syria against the possible attack from sea.

There has been a inquiry during Monday by the United Nations commissions for the arms embargo on Syria but Russia has refused. As per for the Russian foreign minster Sergei Lavrov has describe the whole issue as dishonest and has implied an arms cutoff. The arms cutoff has been given for the Syrian government and not for the opponents and stated how Libya had worked for the arms embargo.
