Toyota was celebrating the achievement of becoming the number one US car maker till few months back, after it took over the mantle from General Motors. GM held the number one post for decades together and Toyota could overtake GM only last year.
But the happiness seems to have ended for Toyota with millions of recalls in US due to defective car parts. Officially Toyota has recalled over three million vehicles in the US , including fast moving brands. The problem has now reached the senate and the Toyota company is finding it hard to hide the problem.
The company even went to the extent of stopping production of key brands for few weeks in order to get hold of the problem. All these have dented the consumer confidence in Toyota brand and the sales numbers have started to reflect the negative impact. Experts fear that Toyota may soon see a massive drop in US sales as consumers do not prefer to go for brands ridden with quality issues.
