As a college student, I am pumped that summer is finally here so I can take a break from class and truly enjoy some of my favorite hobbies of all times, including reading under the sun, hiking, and going on road trips. It may sound surprising to people who know me as an outdoor person, but I have one guilty pleasure during summer: making handmade crafts.
A few years ago, I saw a program on direct tv packages in Nevada which teaches me how to do art and craft with cheap materials. Since then, I have spent part my summer vacation designing and making jewelry, plush animals, clothing, and other household accessories such as cushions and pillows. Not only is this activity a fun pastime, it also makes me extremely popular among friends and relatives who will frequently receive my creations as gifts.
Although I spend a lot of time knitting, crocheting, and sewing, don’t think that I have forgotten the fun of playing under the summer sun. Sometimes I would run in the morning, take a shower, and then begin making my little handicrafts outdoor with one of my favorite books beside me.
One benefit of making handicrafts during summer is that there are often community-run flea markets or artist fairs, and I can even make a profit out of my amateurish creations!
