US consumer confidence is down

The US consumers have been the key force in the economic activity in the world’s largest economy for the last two decades, and they have been in pretty bad shape in the last two years.
The latest survey also reveals that the US consumer confidence is at a six month low, with one in every six person polled indicating that his / her income would be coming down in the near future. That is a bad sign indeed, and it may force many people to reduce their spending, which in turn could pull down the economy back into recession.
So expect tougher times for the US economy, say some pessimistic and also some realistic analysts.
